I found peace when I started prioritizing my healing and making the necessary changes to grow into my best self. I'm deeply grateful that I've intentionally made space in my life for this. I dive deep into what prioritizing my peace looks like in my book How We Heal. What I have grown to realize is that so often we think healing is a massive undertaking. Society conditions us to figure our healing out all at once—and if we don't we're broken. I beg to differ. Sometimes the deepest healing and inner peace are found by sorting through our broken bits and pieces slowly and without haste. And more times than not, it’s in the small shifts, mindful pacing, and micro changes we make that help us uncover the truth of our healing and the depths of our feelings.
I knew I was healing when I stopped surrounding myself with people, places, and things that disrupt my peace. Choosing to protect my peace, growth, and path in this small way deepened and strengthened my healing process and how I move through the world. This wasn't an easy shift to make, and some days it's still very hard, but I'm grateful that I stayed rooted in intention even when the going gets tough. My affirmation this week was, I am a place of peace. These words remind me to stay rooted, connected, and grounded in the life I've worked so hard to make. Something I keep with me on my journey is that everything doesn't need to be a big deal or heavy emotional life. This goes for our healing, too. We can create deep change, and grow through the baby steps that we intentionally choose to take without getting overwhelmed and drained.
I am grateful that slowing down helps me find inner-peace.
