Gentle Reminder:
I understand that the weight can be overwhelming when you realize that you're the main one, maybe even the only one in your family who is actively taking the steps to address and break long-standing patterns of damaging behavior and trauma. It's a huge responsibility to deliberately choose to dismantle the layers of dysfunction passed down and actively embark on a healing journey with genuine intention.
If no one has told you recently, you were chosen to pave this healing path for a reason. It's crucial to always remind yourself of this work's importance and purpose. Know that achieving inner peace begins the moment you release the need to alter the behaviors and perspectives of those who aren't willing to initiate change for themselves. Understand that the journey of your healing and their healing are distinct paths. They might intersect eventually, but they are not one and the same. You do not have to stop paving the way because other folks are not ready to put their best foot forward.
Reconciling with ourselves and the experiences of our pasts isn't just about reflection. It also involves actively confronting and overcoming the cycles of dysfunction, past traumas, and deeply ingrained self-loathing. Someone has to do the work. If you're being called to be the leader of your lineage, please lean in. I know this is not an easy task, but it's a necessary and worthy choice to make. When you mindfully decide to embark on your healing journey, you're not only doing it for yourself. In that decision lies the promise of a better, healthier future for the generations that follow you.
Keep healing by example. Find gratitude in the grit, even when it's hard being the guiding light. Let the depth of this work serve as a compass, revealing the magnificence and stability that come from embracing the hard things that healing brings and leaning in fully.
For anyone who needs a little extra love today, I wrote a Gratitude Prayer for us to revisit whenever we need to.
May I find peace and gratitude for the gift of life and each precious moment I get to experience.
I am deeply grateful for the love that surrounds me, the challenges that strengthen me, and the beauty found in both the remarkable and the ordinary.
May my heart remain open to the blessings that come my way, both big and small.
May I always remember the abundance of grace that I find on this healing path, and may I continue to soften and share that same grace out into the world.
No matter how bumpy the road gets, I extend deep thanks to the Creator. I cherish this journey as I learn to honor and acknowledge the divine in all things.
