I haven’t been in the mood to write much these days. The practice feels so far away for me. Maybe it’s because I have new book to write. Maybe it’s because the pressure to find words feels overwhelming. Perhaps, I have no more words. Does anyone ever feel like: What more can I say? Writing for me requires a lot of space, time, and quiet. I’ve had little of those three things over the past few months. Something I started doing again recently is writing short notes to myself. I used to do that a lot. Here are three from my May archive. Enjoy!
Healing transforms how you spend your time and energy. It refocuses your values and adjusts your way of thinking. The more you heal, the more you'll find a deep appreciation for inner-peace and solitude. Each season of your life will have pockets of quiet. Lean into them. And instead of rushing to fill silence and stillness with noise and busyness, learn to embrace the still moments. They are opportunities for reflection and deeper alignment. Creating contentment in your own company is a beautiful reminder of your voyage toward wholeness and self-love. Be thankful for these moments. Be open to them, too. Every quiet moment can be a cherished gift.
2. Life will throw you challenges that seem insurmountable in the moment. Breathe. Reflect on your journey and find gratitude for the ebbs and flows. Your relationships will shift and change. Let them. Pay attention to the ones worth fighting for and those ready to dissolve. The people who push you away, the situations that nearly broke you, and the nights you didn't think you'd make it through have shaped you for the better. Your experiences, though at times painful, became the catalyst for your growth. For your deepening. You are so much more rooted now. In your darkest moments, you've discovered your inner strength and light. Life has taught you resilience and helps you remember your worth. When you embrace the lessons, you better understand that even the hardest times can lead to profound personal transformation and self-discovery.
Change is necessary. As you evolve, you'll seek more peace, positivity, clarity, openness, and joy. Negativity from others who don't understand your path is not your anchor. You don't don't have to stay stuck with them. Bloom your way. You’re allowed to take on a new shape. In this season, meaningful connections and uplifting interactions are pivotal. Surround yourself with people who are likeminded in their pursuit of healing and happiness. Trust the growing you’re doing. You do not have to stay the same. Shifting toward the light and purpose of your life is a beautiful testament to your journey of growth and self-love. Keep going.
Community: Leave your own note to self in the comments. I’d love to read them.
Gratitude Journal is a free (bi-weekly'ish) community newsletter. If you'd like to support my work, please consider subscribing and sharing this free Substack. If you’re looking to monetarily support, buying my books, listening to my podcast, or joining me at a retreat or workshop are options. I even made a perfume for us! I have plenty of offerings for you to choose from. I'm grateful for your support in whatever capacity.
Note to self; Just keep going. Eventually everything will work out and you will be exactly where you need to be. Put on your seatbelt and ride the waves and emotions until everything settles because it will. As always. 🤍🫶🏽
Hey girl!
Yes you.
I AM TIRED. You can say it out, it’s fine. Nobody will judge you for it. At least not here.
Burnout is allowed. Fatigue is allowed. Mixed feelings are allowed. The chaos are permissible.
You can feel tired. You can feel frustrated. You can feel flustered. You were made to feel, of the many purposes God had in mind when He told the Trinity: Let us make man in our own image in Genesis.
In all the numerous conflicting feelings and emotions, remember to breathe.
Remember who has called you by name.
Remember El-Roi, The One who sees you. Remember to rest in the love He has poured out to you.
Remember who your Father is. Your Heavenly Father.
Remember He said you’d never be alone.
Remind yourself that He said: BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD. If you sit with Him long enough, you’ll be left with just BE. Be. Be. Just be.
He is the Sovereign God. He is I Am and He loves you. He chose you. The God of the Universe loves you.
So girl, be. Just be. Rest. Lean. Incline your heart to Him.
Like a child with her father, sit with Him, close your eyes and rest. Let go of all the stress, worries, concern. Pour all your worries and stress upon Jesus and leave them there, because He always tenderly cares for you.
Choose to leave those feelings with Him. He understands. He is good. He is love. He is generous and intentionally about you ALWAYS.
Signed,
E.
